The 2002 Arlington Airshow is now history.
We had a beautiful week for the
Fly-in always look
forward to this home town show. New to
everyone
(including
us having just completed the move) was the new office-hangar
building NewGlasair
now resides in. Both the hangar and
offices are nicer
but after working in the old hangar for
so many years the new digs are not
quite home. In addition I had to move all my R&D
parts collection, that I
have carefully hoarded, and finding
things now is something of an adventure.

The new building did work just as
well for our builder get togethers.
Friday evening NewGlasair
sponsored a hamburger fly (steak for the builders
who flew in) and had over 100 in
attendance. Saturday evening
friends pooled their talents to provide the
most reasonably priced and good
tasting salmon dinner anywhere. Once again we filled the hangar.
NewGlasair also had a tent in the main show
display area where we introduced
some new Jump-start components for the GlaStar and also a
"Firewall
Forward" package for the GlaStar.
Several items on this package
will also be applicable to the Glasair
community (prop governor bracket, 160
and 180 HP carburetor engine control
bracket).
I want to thank all the Glasair and GlaStar builders who either flew in or
drove in to participate in the
event. For me this is a great time to
speak
in person to everyone and put a face
to the voice on the phone. I tried to
keep a log of , and speak to, the
many Glasairs
and GlaStars I saw (and I
know I missed a couple) and counted 8 Glasairs and 25 GlaStars.

The long
distance fly-in award will undoubtedly go to Dr. Louis Castillo and Ludin
Reyes. Who flew Mr. Castillos
Glasair II in from
took 14 hours and I believe is their second trip up to visit us. They plan
to continue on to
